Frequently asked questions

Do I need to own a horse to join the club?+

No, you don't need to own a horse to become a member. While many of our members do have their own horses, we welcome anyone with a love for horses and riding.

Can I book riding lessons at the club?+

Yes! Riding lessons are offered by Chrisma Sutherland, an experienced instructor who runs her own riding school and makes use of our facilities.

Can I take pictures at the club?+

Yes, photoshoots can be arranged in advance by emailing us. We'll need to notify members and staff beforehand, and certain rules apply to keep everyone — especially the horses — safe: no photoshoots while horses are being let out or brought in, no balloons or loud props, no flash photography or studio lighting near horses, and horses may not be removed from stables or camps, fed, or treated without the owner's consent.

Can I feed the horses or give them snacks?+

No, feeding or giving snacks to the horses is only allowed with the explicit consent of the owner. Diets are often carefully managed for competitive sport or health reasons, so please admire the horses and leave their care and feeding to their owners and trainers.

What type of stabling do you offer?+

We offer semi-DIY stabling for horses of various breeds. Each morning, stable doors are opened and horses run out in groups to their grass camps (mares and geldings separated); in the late afternoon they return on their own. Grooms clean stables and manage shavings, and each horse receives 1kg of pellets in the afternoon. Members supply daily water, additional feed, and care for tack and equipment. Facilities include wash bays, paddocks, tack storage, and round pens.

How much does stabling cost?+

Stables: R1350/month. Outdoor camps: R700/month. Lockers: R90/R120/R150 (limited availability). In addition: annual club membership R540/year, once-off member joining fee R540, once-off horse joining fee R500/horse, and a veterinary fee of R180/horse per month (includes annual AHS vaccinations). Fees are reviewed annually — confirm current pricing with the committee.

Is the club open to beginners or children?+

Yes! Our club is family-friendly and welcomes riders of all ages and skill levels, with regular pony rides, fun shows, and social events for younger riders and newcomers.

What events does the club host?+

Shows, clinics, and weekend outrides throughout the year — members also organise their own social outrides most weekends.

How do I become a member?+

Download the membership application form, complete it, and email it to worcperdryklub@gmail.com. The application is pinned on the club notice board for two weeks; if no objections are received, membership is formally approved by the committee.

Is the club safe?+

The club is on the outskirts of town near the Breede River, surrounded by open land. We partner with LTS Security for 24-hour live video monitoring, and panic buttons are installed at strategic points around the grounds. We encourage members to stay vigilant, especially when riding alone, and to enjoy horse activities in groups where possible.

How do I stay informed about upcoming events?+

Follow us on social media, or get in touch with the committee — members also receive updates via email or WhatsApp.
